In 2016, Starbucks Korea Co. achieved sales of 1 trillion won for the first time in the industry in Korea.
In Korea, sales of 1 trillion won have a very big symbolic meaning. The sales of 1 trillion won means that it has grown to become a big company, indicating that it has been completely successful in Korea.
And only 5 countries does the company’s 1 year sales surpass 1 trillion won in the 75 countries that Starbucks operating in.

Sales growth has been steady over the past decade. This shows that Starbucks Korea Co’s business is very stable.

2. Srarbucks Korea Operating Profit & OP margin Trend
The graph below shows operating profit & operating profit rate from 1999 to 2016.
Starbucks Korea Co. posted a record operating profit of 60.9 billion won in 2016.
However, the OP margin peaked at 14.4% in 2005 and then dropped gradually to 6.1% in 2016.
Starbucks korea Co.’ profits have been falling due to fierce competition and the proliferation of cheap coffee shops.
From a different perspective, Starbucks’ OP margin of 6.1% is much higher than its competitors.
